Salmon Fishing Charters in Homer, Alaska

King, silver, and pink salmon charters in Homer, Alaska. Fish the rich runs of Cook Inlet all summer long.

Homer charters target three salmon species throughout the season: king salmon (Chinook) in May–June, silver salmon (coho) in July–September, and pink salmon (humpies) in July–August when runs are strong. Each species offers a different experience — kings are the prestige fish, silvers are the most aggressive fighters, and pinks show up in massive numbers during good run years. Many operators run combo trips that target halibut and salmon on the same day.

What you need to know

  • King salmon charters book up fast — May and early June dates fill by January. Book 4–6 months ahead for kings.
  • Silver salmon are often considered the most fun per pound — they jump, run, and fight hard on light tackle.
  • Pink salmon (humpies) show up in massive schools during strong run years — July and August. Run strength varies; check current ADF&G forecasts or ask your captain.
  • River salmon fishing (walk-and-wade) is a completely different experience from ocean charters — Silverfin Guide Service specializes in this.
  • Salmon limits change annually — your captain will know the current regs for your trip date.
