About this charter

Big Butt Charters is a Homer, Alaska charter operation founded by owner Tai Riser, who came to Alaska in 1993 and partnered with Captain Josh in 2020 to launch the business. The fleet includes two modern vessels — the 34'3" M/V Early Riser (2019 Seahawk Offshore 310 SXL) and the 32' M/V Bait Ball (2021 Sea Raider) — both powered by twin Yamaha 300 engines, equipped with Garmin electronics, heated cabs, private stand-up heads, and 5-star Coast Guard safety ratings. Captains Jordan, Justin (a third-generation fisherman who has been on the water since age 2), and Chuck bring deep Alaska expertise fishing Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, and the Gulf of Alaska up to 50 miles from Homer Harbor. They offer everything from summer halibut and multi-species adventures to a unique winter season targeting Tanner crab and king salmon, with filleting always included in the charter fee.
