About this charter
North Country Charters is one of Homer's longest-running fishing operations, carrying on a legacy that dates back to 1979 on the Homer Spit. The fleet includes multiple vessels — among them the Irish Mist, The Irish, Longshot, Tuff Stuff (a 35ft Bertram), Beau Soleil, and Storm Petrel — each helmed by experienced local captains who grew up on or came to call Kachemak Bay home. Trips range from 3/4-day outings in the bay to long-range 10-12 hour runs into Cook Inlet in search of trophy halibut, with combo options targeting salmon, rockfish, and lingcod alongside the prized flatfish. The operation prides itself on being welcoming to everyone — solo travelers, families, and first-timers alike — with a no-ego, locals-first approach that has kept anglers returning for generations.
