About this charter

DeepStrike Sportfishing was founded in 2003 by Captain David Bayes, a lifelong Alaska resident with a degree in Biological Sciences and former president of both the Alaska Charter Association and Homer Charter Association — giving it over 20 years of proven experience on Kachemak Bay. The fleet consists of three purpose-built vessels: the 34' M/V Current Lady (Seakeeper 3 stabilization, Skyhook GPS anchoring), the 40' M/V Wilderness Explorer (Seakeeper 6, triple 425 HP Yamahas), and the flagship 44' M/V Alaska Endeavor (Seakeeper 6, triple 450 HP engines, 18-passenger capacity) — each equipped with gyro stabilization that reduces seasick-inducing boat roll by up to 95%. DeepStrike targets halibut, king and silver salmon, and prized yelloweye rockfish, running full-day trips from May 1 through September 15 out of Homer Spit. Notable for Homer's only all-female crew aboard the M/V Wilderness Explorer under Captain Chelsea Schmitt, and Captain David Bayes's record as a multiple Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby grand prize winner, DeepStrike blends championship-level fishing knowledge with a fleet built for comfort at sea.
