About this charter

Captain Travis Blount has been fishing Homer waters since age 11 and holds a 100-ton Near Coastal Master license earned in 2013, having spent years as a deckhand and hired captain for Homer Ocean Charters before founding Blount Adventure Cruises in 2019. He runs the Obsession, a 30.2-foot Ray Hunt Tournament Sportfisher by Chris Craft with twin 240HP Yanmar engines capable of 22 knots, a private marine head, climate-controlled cabin for 10, and a wide-open 12x11-foot aft deck purpose-built for fishing. The operation covers an expansive range — Kachemak Bay, Southern Cook Inlet, the Chugach Islands, the Barren Islands, and parts of the Kodiak Archipelago — targeting halibut, king and silver salmon, rockfish, and lingcod depending on season and conditions. Travis is a multiple Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby winner and landed the 2025 largest halibut fleet-wide at 88 inches and over 300 pounds, making this one of Homer's most consistently productive charters.
