Check them all off — most visitors come back specifically to finish the list.
Pacific Halibut
May – September · 2/day
The anchor species. Homer is the Halibut Capital of the World — this one's a lock.
King Salmon
May – June · 1/day
The prestige target. Cook Inlet kings run 25–60 lbs. Book early; the window is short.
Silver Salmon
July – September · 6/day
The most fun fish in the inlet. Acrobatic, aggressive, and in peak form all August.
Rockfish
Year-round · 3/day
Yelloweye, black rockfish, copper. Deep structure bottom fishing — a slam staple.
Lingcod
July 1 – Dec 31 · 1/day
The most aggressive fish in the water. They'll grab a rockfish you're already reeling in.
Tanner Crab
Fall & Winter · Operator varies
Tanner crab from lower Cook Inlet are sweet and meaty. Pot pulls alongside a fishing day — the bonus that seals the trip.
July and August are the prime multi-species window — four species available simultaneously. Add a king salmon day in May or June, and a crab trip in fall, and the full slam is done.

The Full 5-Species
Multi-trip or split season
Add a king salmon day in May or June, then return in fall for a Tanner crab pot trip. Or book an operator running crab pot soaks alongside a summer combo day.
One-Day Multi Species
July–August
Some operators run halibut in the morning, switch to rockfish and lingcod midday, then troll for silvers in the afternoon. Three species on one boat, one day. Ask about 'Captain's Choice' trips.
Book in Order
Planning tip
Start with halibut (most operators, easiest to book). Then add salmon based on run conditions. Let your captain guide you — they track daily reports and know what's worth targeting.
